Caitlin New, born in 1996, is a Textile Designer with her BFA from the University of Georgia. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, she now resides in Winter Garden, FL creating various forms of textile work. Her passion for textiles is rooted in her love for yarn, knitting and crocheting but has expanded throughout her degree into techniques like dyeing, embroidery, sewing, weaving, and digital print and pattern making. She explores fun abstract mark making inspired by a cozy feminine aesthetic with textures found in the world around her, with her favorite color palette of shades of blues, pinks, and yellows.

Recently, Caitlin has been exploring the medium of tufting. From wall hangings to functional rugs, she uses the tufting gun as her brush and yarn as her paint to create tactile pieces of art.

Caitlin is an alumni of the Disney College Program. In Fall 2019, she was an Entertainment Costumer working in Disney’s Hollywood Studios alongside Star Wars characters, some favorites of hers from the company. In Fall of 2020, she interned with 255 Milledge Events as a Floral and Event Designer. There, she was able to bring her production design experience gained from working on student films and combine it with the hospitality industry to create days newlyweds would never forget.

Now, Caitlin has returned to the Disney Company as an Assistant Product Design Intern in Accessories. She is having fun being a cast member again but this time using her expertise in Textiles to create fun headwear, handbags, and foot wear merchandise that can be found at Disney retailers globally.
